Like I said on stage, I've accepted the award and now I'm completely chilled out about it. Some people did ask me, how come I accepted when I've always said that I wouldn't. To that, I have a simple answer: I'm entitled to change my mind.
The award function had a special significance for me. I had promised to be there, no matter what. Helen Aunty was getting the Lifetime Achievement Award. Arbaaz, Sohail and I felt deeply honoured that we were presenting it to her.
Really, explanations and controversies are futile. I was there, I enjoyed the evening. I was thrilled to be on stage with Helen Aunty. I was thrilled when my friend Kamaal Khan won the RD Burman award.
I had to leave for film shooting abroad, soon after the function. And I felt great. I thought a lot about the evening and I remember that when the flight took off for Singapore, I was smiling happily, thinking about the Filmfare award evening, which I will always remember.
